Finally, I can get back to working on my current bead painting – my beaded semi truck! I had mostly finished beading all of the parts for my truck, so the next step was to create a passenger – a beaded American Bulldog!
Inspired by my friend’s Bulldog named Diezel, I cut out a small piece of Lacy’s Stiff Stuff. I layered a few pieces of felt on top of the stiff stuff to add dimension. Then, I stitched tiny size 15 seed beads to the felt. The finished piece measures 2 x 2.5cm. After I finished beading Diezel, I stitched him to the inside of my beaded truck.. I also stitched lights to the top of the cab. These are Swarovski crystal rhinestones which I glued to eye pins – an experiment which seems to have worked well! How does it look? :D
For awhile, I was debating on whether this piece should stand alone or not, but my gut feeling tells me it should be part of a larger painting. So, the other day, I dug out a 20″ x 24″ canvas and spent some time sketching an extended environment for the truck. This sketch is inspired by the original photograph.. Truthfully, I am a little nervous and excited about this one… So…
In the meantime, Diezel has also inspired me to make a pair of Bulldog earrings. These are the same size as the bulldog in the truck. The measure 27mm x 23mm. They are sterling silver post earrings and they are currently available for sale at my Etsy shop. I really like how they turned out, but I think I will also make a dangly pair to compare:) Please see this listing for more photos & details..
This year, I plan to expand my product line just a bit by creating variations on this idea for other breeds.. one bead at a time!
Now, back to my painting.. :O

Here’s an update on the progress of my beaded Peterbilt semi- truck. After beading the American flag grill, headlights, and cab, I created two beaded lights using 12-gauge precious metal wire. I stitched a ball of felt to the ends of them, and bead embroidered orange Delicas around the felt. I wasn’t sure this would work at first, but it turned out kinda cool!
And, even though working with wire is not my forté, somehow I managed to create 2 side view mirrors by stitching liquid silver bugle beads to precious metal wire.
Currently, the truck consists of 4 pieces of beadwork + 2 wire lights. Nothing will be stitched together until all of the pieces have been created.
I still need to add some lights on top of the cab, as well as a beaded doggie passenger:) How does it look so far?

Who love Pugs? My beaded Pug pins have recently become one of my best sellers on Etsy! My latest one is all black. I used 15/o charlotte seed beads for sparkle, as well as steel gray for contrast. How does he look?
Now, this item is available in either black or fawn color. Please specify color when ordering HERE. For those who may be interesting in making your own beaded Pug pin, I am in the middle of writing the pattern & instructions, so please stay tuned:)
I have also finished making another baby pink beaded poodle pin. I started beading this miniature poodle at last week’s bead embroidery workshop. I used bubblegum pink 8/o seed beads, as well as ceylon white Delicas.
Here’s how it looks as a pendant! Adorable, right? ;) Please click the pics to view more photos on Etsy:)
Also, if you’d like to check out the latest progress of my semi-beaded Peterbilt semi truck, check out my Facebook page. I will post an update on this blog soon. That’s the news for now. Thank you for your interest in my beadwork!

For the past few days, I’ve been busy beading my semi- truck. I used Preciosa rhinestone squaredelles for the head lights. I stitched them on end which really helps to create dimension! I also beaded several layers of metallic Delicas around them to keep them together. How do you think it looks so far? Next, I will start working more detailed parts, like side-view mirrors and exhaust stacks.. :O
Besides this project, I have been preparing for my first bead embroidery workshop. I am also currently celebrating 200 sales in my Etsy shop! FIRST TIME CUSTOMERS use coupon code OCT200 to receive 10% off any order now through October 31, 2012. Thank you so much for your interest in my beadwork! :D
