Felt Shadow

beaded camo camouflage print military Afghanistan U.S. pop art war bead embroiderySemi-beaded M1 Abrams main battle tank. Bead embroidery on f elt. '
21" wide x 11" tall (53 x 30cm)

Last night, during President Obama's Address to the Nation, I finished cutting out 3 large pieces of black felt & stitched them together in an ugly manner. While my beaded M1 Abrams main battle tank may be beautiful, it's cold, dark shadow will always remind us of the horrors of war...

Why do boys like war? My nephew will be going in this wave, we are all very worried but he is ready to fight:(

What is it about Afghanistan? The British, the Russians and now us. I don't think this is going to turn out well. I keep thinking about volunteering to a veteran's group. My niece's husband is in the Quartermaster Corps, going to Iraq. So he'll hand out beans, not be fighting, but still, I'm scared for him and her.

I love this piece, and the statement you make with it! No words are really needed! :-) (digitized camo or not ;-) )

Hi Diana,
It's about time I left a comment, but as usual I'm blown away by your stunning beadwork. Not to mention the subjects you choose to create - this tank is incredible. Is it a commission, or just something you wanted to do? The black felt sure makes a statement.

Hi Gina! Thanks for your comment! My tank is just one of the subjects I have been wanting to create. It's not quite finished yet, but it's getting there! :)
