Buttons, Buttons, No Buttons

The other day, I was reading the comments on my Facebook page and noticed that someone suggested using buttons for the wheels of my beaded M1 Abrams main battle tank. I thought that was a great idea, so yesterday, I went to Windsor Button in downtown Boston.

I looked at almost every button they had (they have many!). I almost bought a set, but then, at the last minute, I decided not to. I don't know why. Maybe it was because the buttons I liked were actually plastic instead of metal, or maybe it was because they were pricey, or both!

So, disappointed, I came home & just kept beading my tank.

Now, I don't know what to use for the wheels...
Maybe I'll just make beaded ones!! :o

Well, at least you had a look at the buttons and will file the image in your "later file" for when the need arises. In the meantime, you surely will find a good solution!

I like the washers. The tank is looking great. How are you going to do the traction belt?

Thanks for the comments! Right now I am thinking of working with the washers somehow, but I'm not sure! I am still thinking about how to do that belt, too! :)

I think the wheels on the tank are good. It's a tank. :-)

What a kewl button shop --- too many to make a decision, though. Like the camouflage beading -- have been knitting the GSs hats and gloves in the camouflage yarns. I think my favorite is still "Waiting for Dad".

Gosh that's a tough one, what about bolts with very short shafts?

or those clock-gear findings.... those'll work, too.

Heh! that is funny! I do things like this all of the time!

Try the nuts and bolts section of your local hardware store.

Thanks, Mo. I actually tried that first and didn't blog about it. Haven't come up with anything there yet!

You could always buttonhole stitch over your washers with metallic or other thread??
