I must've been in the holiday spirit today, because I got out all my red beads. I made a beaded Cardinal pin! Cardinals are one of my favourite birds all year round, and I have been meaning to make one for awhile. Also, he took me awhile to make - 5 hours of beading! I used red 1/2 bugle beads I found when I was in London, as well as a mix of Japanese size 11 & size 15 seed beads. I also used some black wire to attach a real tree branch! I think I like how he turned out, so I'll probably bead more birds in this style.
Bead embroidery on felt. 3" tall x 1-1/4" wide (7.5 cm x 3.5cm).

whoo hoo, that is cool, and I love the little sleeping jack Russel.
that's very pretty. i love cardinals too.
you have a great christmas, lone beader..
Cool new header! and I'm lovin' all the little animals! pushing the limits of beadwork! it's fantastic!
I love the cardinal! It reminds me of when I lived in Vermont... We had one particularly frigid winter (-30°F for weeks in a row) with months of snowbanks and dead silence outside. But one early spring morning, as I was trudging through snowdrifts several feet deep in order to get to class, I heard the first bird of the year... a cardinal that was perched up in a tree that still had ice on it!
Wow! That's a nice one. This really require time and effort to make one. Most importantly, is patient. :)
How cool...it makes a great gift:) Happy WW.
Very cute ! I like when you
used black wire to attach a
real tree branch.

Gorgeous! I've scheduled a link to this post to go live on my blog tomorrow morning (Central USA time). I hope it brings you a few extra clicks.
