Beadwork in progress.
Thanks for all your comments on my last post! Here's what I started working on last night. Hopefully, it will be a beaded likeness of Faz the Cat. Faz lives in the United Kingdom, and I have been reading her blog for at least a year and a half. I look forward to reading about Faz's adventures everyday! :)
Someday, I would love to do a larger portrait of a cat, but I will start out with a small brooch to see how it comes out. Looking at a photo of Faz, I came up with a sketch. Then, I traced the sketch and stitched it to a piece of felt and a piece of Lacy's Stiff Stuff. I am stitching right through the tracing paper for this piece so I don't make any colour mistakes. (I did make one mistake that caused me to rip out half of the beads I stitched!) So far, I have used 6 different colours, and they are mostly size 15 Japanese seed beads. This piece of beadwork is very small- it measures approx. 2" x 2" (5cm x 5cm). It will be hard to get a lot of detail, but I will try! Wish me luck! :o

It looks vey intricate. I love seeing the process!
I enjoying peeking at Faz the Cat and like what you are doing. I am quite amazed at how with a few beads you are able to catch the nuances in modeling the features on such a small image.
all the best for the New Year :)
Do British cats love fish n' chips too?
A very cute puss indeed!
Faz the Cat looks remarkably like our cat we had for 19 years. I may have to book mark her.
You've set yourself quite a task, but I think you're up to it. It will be fun to see in the next day or two.
I love these little beaded critters, LB! A nice change of pace for you, I suspect.
Thanks for all the comments! This little cat will definitely be a challenge... And of course British cats love fish & chips! ;)
And, the beaded critters are a nice change of pace. It is mostly to stock some items in my Etsy shop. Don't worry, I will be starting another vehicle soon! :D
I love all of your beaded animal and bird pins... they're wonderful! I see at lease one of them sold. Yay! Faz will be great too, full of personality just as he is in real life!
Thanks for your visits to my blog... You asked if I got the idea for a door that opens from you... not that I'm aware of, although it does sound like something you'd do too.
