>Holiday Red Bird

I must’ve been in the holiday spirit today, because I got out all my red beads. I made a beaded Cardinal pin! Cardinals are one of my favourite birds all year round, and I have been meaning to make one for awhile. Also, he took me awhile to make – 5 hours of beading! I used red 1/2 bugle beads I found when I was in London, as well as a mix of Japanese size 11 & size 15 seed beads. I also used some black wire to attach a real tree branch! I think I like how he turned out, so I’ll probably bead more birds in this style.

But one early spring morning, as I was trudging through snowdrifts several feet deep in order to get to class, I heard the first bird of the year… a cardinal that was perched up in a tree that still had ice on it!
