The Holy Grail

Today, my beaded Banksy pink car is complete. Here's what I've done:

bead-embroidered carFirst, I stitched the two main layers of the felt foundation together so the car is one piece. Then, I cut a small strip of felt and stitched it to the undercarriage of the my Triumph GT6. The main purpose of this was to cover up the pink felt layers.

Pink wheelsNext, I beaded the wheel wells. This also covers the felt layers.

Triumph GT6 wheelsIn the above photo, you'll see that I stuffed some felt scraps under the rear fender of the vehicle. This will give the piece some extra dimension. It also creates the illusion that the beaded body is just as curvy as the original car.

Then, I edged the roof with seed beads.

Here's what the reverse side of my beadwork looks like now...

Banksy said, "The Holy Grail is to spend less time making the picture than it takes people to look at it." Looks like I'll never be able to achieve that goal... :0

Now, on to the next phase of this piece... :0

I love that you put a skull in the car and just the way you did the whole car. Your work with beads really just astonishes me. Fabu

It looks good! By all means get a BWO logo sign. What we do takes mega hours and very people realize that. That you blog and sell and enter just eats up your days.

Marvelous craftsmanship!

I’m not sure achieving that “Holy Grail” is possible. How much time did you actually put into this project? Are you satisfied with the results?

I believe that last question is the only one that really counts.

Each post is almost a piece of art in itself, so in that way maybe you achieved the Holy Grail.

Thanks so much for your comments! And, Ybonesy, your comment was so sweet... *blush*

Nick, I started documenting this piece on August 7th. It's not a large vehicle like my blue bus was, but I'd still say I spent a good 35+ hours including the design time & felt preparation, etc...

I love how the car looks, but this piece is not complete yet... :0

It seems to have been a quick creation - that must be because you have the skill to work fast and also, of course, the artistic imagination to visualise the end product, which I couldn't! I love it now - is it going to have a shadow box too?

Cool!
Yesterday my blue bus tote bag arrived. I love it. I have put my beadwork into it and took it to my parents where we are staying over the weekend. I will make a photo within the next few days.
Have a nice weekend ... beadexplorer

The detail in this piece is amazing. And I love the photo and explanation of how you did the tires. Great piece. And the best part was atching your process with it. Cool!

I love how you pieces come alive. You are so generous to share all the steps it takes to create these masterpieces. It truely looks like the Banksy car. The background will be incrediable, looking forward to watching that progress. How much time....lol...does that count the dreaming, while you are working, the bead shopping and I bet you are already thinking about your next....
Have a good day
