Door to The Unknown

"There are things known and things unknown and in between are the doors." ~Jim Morrison

I think the sliding door to my psychedelic beaded bus might be finished, but this is still unknown... Anyways, today, I did stitch on some dark blue Ultrasuede around the doorway itself. This is to cover any felt that may be visible when the door is open.

Then, I stitched 4 soldered sterling silver jump rings onto the back of the door. These loops slip onto 2 sterling silver wires that I stitched onto the bus. The wires are stitched onto the back of the bus, but they actually run along the front at the top & bottom of the doorway. You can see this larger HERE. When the door is finally attached, it will be able to slide back and forth. Next, I will continue beading the sections that divide the windows. I will also secure the other ends of the wires to keep the door in place...

The purpose of the sliding door is to allow the viewer to see into the unknown...

You are so clever! I knew you could engineer a working door for the bus. It's been a great bus ride

Good thinking!

I was going to do the same thing when I bead my bus ;)

I am all for the unknown, I want to enter...thanks for putting in the door...Without it, it is just a bus without door....now the beaded bus is a gateway to....a piece of art.

Thanks for liking my mountains!

Geeeez. This is fantastic, LB! I love that the door will slide - and I don't know if you intend to use the photograph as background - but it really adds a sense of mystery...a sense of something about to be discovered. I think I like this best of anything since "Rudi"...and that's saying something 'cause I LOVE Rudi.
This piece is just plain wonderful.

Thanks so much, everyone!

Corky, wanna go for a moonlight drive?? I'll swing by to pick U up:)

And, LJ, the background is intended to be for this post only, at least as far as I know... It is a photo of Jim Morrison & his cosmic mate, Pamela Courson... Glad U like it:)
