Door of Perception

This evening, I began working on the door to my psychedelic beaded bus.

First, I finished beading it. Then, I cut a small piece of matte board out and glued it right onto the back of the beadwork. (This will stiffen the door.) I also cut out a piece of dark blue Ultrasuede. I traced around the window area, and then cut out the excess fabric. Next, I glued the Ultrasuede to the piece of matte board, as well as to the window frame. And, lastly, I stitched the edge of the fabric around the beadwork. The bottom of it is not yet stitched because later, I'll need to make this into a working sliding door...

Below is a photo of how the door should look when it is part of my finished piece.

Strangely, just as I began working on my beaded door, one of my best friends called. He told me that he had just dreamt that I came over and was standing at the back door looking in... He said that I was on the outside, however, he did not mention if the door was locked, opened, or closed. The meaning of this dream intrigued me, so I did a little research.

According to the dream dictionary, to dream that you are entering through a door signifies new opportunities that will be presented before you. You are entering into a new stage in your life and moving from one level of consciousness to another. In particular, a door that opens to the outside, signifies your need to be more accessible to others, whereas a door that opens into the inside, denotes your desire for inner exploration and self-discovery. To see opened doors in your dream symbolizes your receptiveness and willingness to accept new ideas/concepts. In particular, to see a light behind it suggests that you are moving toward greater enlightenment/spirituality.

Interesting... I wonder if my friend opened the door to let me in...

A "Door of perception" ... I have not finished reading the book "The Doors of Perception" yet, although it is a thin one. But I read the Jim Morrison biography as you know. I have other two books I am reading currently, too ...
I am also wondering if your friend will open the doors to new perceptions of his world ...

The door is very cool. I love checking in every day to see your progress and where your bus has taken you. You should collect all your traveling bus entries into a small book to keep with the finished piece.

Ohh how wonderful! I think that dreams have meanings as well. It's great to know the meaning for doors. I knew that they had a meaning but I didn't know their exact meaning. Thank you for sharing all of that with us! The door looks GREAT!

beadie,

I like the psychadelic bus!

Do the red beads make you smaller and the white beads make you tall?

Oh lets go ask Alice...I hear she's 9 feet tall!

Bus is looking good.

As for the door?! Who would know but you and he? I think that is the most likely people to ask.
