I'm sure it will not surprise any of you when I say that my next piece is actually inspired by a song. In 'The End' by The Doors, Jim Morrison mentions a blue bus. Most of you know Jim Morrison as the American rock star from the 1960's whose life ended abruptly in Paris at the age of 27. Both the music and lyrics to this song paint many images in my mind. I encourage you to listen and think about what this song means to you, as well as how it makes you feel. (If you are unable to play the music track, you can view the lyrics to the song HERE.)

Here is a drawing of a British Bedford OB. These buses were first produced in 1939, but they were a common sight in the the UK in the 50's and 60's. While I was in Europe, I noticed that many British vehicles made it over to Paris and Germany, as well. I love this vehicle's style, so I decided that this should be the shape of my beaded blue bus. My goal for this piece is rather simple. I want to create an extremely dimensional bead- embroidered bus that depicts a glimpse into Jim Morrison's life, career, and death. I plan to do this by eventually creating views into the windows and door, which is why it should be larger and even more structured than my beaded fire truck. If you have the patience, I invite you to take a ride with me in the back of the blue bus...

another piece from your heart, lb...it will be wonderful...I'm looking forward to seeing it.
Oh, it will be terrific. When you were making your fire truck, my favorite part was checking in each day to watch your progress.
Hello, I love you blue bus drawing. Can't help thinking about the Catbus drawed by Miyazaki in "My Neighbour Totoro".

I'm looking forward to the blues that will be used in this piece - am I right to think that every other piece you've finished of late has involved a vehicle?
Love the bus idea! Brought to mind the bus from the partridge family and for some strange reason - the yellow submarine! This is going to be a fun project to watch evolve!
Cheers, Denise
Wow! You like retro stuff! I'm excited to be on this journey with you and it will be fun to see what you do with it.
Wonderful piece! Thanks for sharing it with us!
*HUGS*
Thanks for the responses. Yes, this will be my 3rd vehicle...I decided that I enjoy creating cars and dogs=:)
The Blue Bus is a modern version of the boat on the river Styx ... ;) It takes you to the afterworld or makes you immortal. The latter is what happened to Jim ...
That's a so cool project. I am looking forward to seeing the work in progress everyday!
Sounds like we are in for an adventure in the making.
OK, OK, I know I've been around the grandkids too much when the miniute I saw your drawing
The Wheels On The Bus came to mind. Seriously, I know this will be another wonderful adventure with you -- and by the way, Welcome Home.
I'm looking forward to watching you make this one. The Doors were a great band.
You are back! whoohoo! Sorry, I am a little late to the party it seems. My kids and I will be watching this one unfold, the bus I mean...we love your cars, trucks and dogs!
I don't know, lb, I think I belong on the 'short' bus. ;)
