This post is for Blu:)

Also, here's a closer look at my 1943 Chevy fire truck. First I stitched on some black Ultrasuede. Then, I beaded the wheels using size 15 Japanese seed beads.
Have any of you ever heard of Spanky Spangler? He is a professional stunt driver, daredevil, and stunt man. I first heard about him when I was in college. I received a letter from my little sister in which she wrote that she was watching Spanky jump a truck over the Rio Grande river on TV. This made me laugh, and for some reason I thought the stunt was near impossible. I had never been to the Rio Grande before, and I imagined it to be a very wide river. Years later, I finally remembered to look up Spanky Spangler to see photos from that stunt. Spanky jumped a Rocket Truck over the river, which I thought was pretty cool. And, it appears that the Rio Grande isn't that wide after all... =:)
I love watching stunts like that, and I wanted to see what it would look like if Spanky jumped my beaded fire truck over the Charles River here in Boston, MA. Would this stunt even be possible? And, when you jump a truck like this, would any of the wheels actually keep turning while airborne? I know that when Evel Knievel jumped his motorcycle, one of the wheels kept turning... Maybe one of you car guys could give me some insight...

Looks like Spanky Spangler has "no fear"!!!
The tires are perfect on the fire truck. It has been an incredible adventure watching you create this piece.
"What do you think?"
Great!
And thanks for Journey's Wheels in the Sky! Love the song and have not listened to it for a long time!!!
Your tuck is fantastic! I too have really enjoyed watching your progress on this truck, my kids even get into the act by asking to see the truck everyday! It looks great.
I love the tires, they look great. Zippers were the perfect thing for the tread! You're really coming a long on this piece. You'll have it finished in no time.
I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love your fire truck...I especially got a good laugh at your truck jumping the Charles River. When I was a flight attendant, I was based in Boston, and just the image I have in my head right now helps me to give me a good mental etch a sketch. PS, I loved Journey in High School. They bring up so many memories for me.
The wheels are extraordinary! I love it.
I still think you are just crazy. Good crazy, I dig it........
You could definitely jump your fire truck over ANYTHING!
The wheels look KILLER! That is awesome!!!

Your work is great.
the zippers idea was brilliant!
Glad you like the wheels!
Would you believe that Robbie Knievel's personal bodyguard emailed me about this post today?? He said that he has been friends with Spanky for the past 15 years, and that maybe Spanky could jump my truck over the Charles... =:)
I think it still looks great! I love the pic of the truck jumping the river BTW!
It's fabulous! And what a clever idea to use the zipper teeth as tire treads!
Wow, this is so amazing. You just blow my mind away with the ideas you have for doing different things on each of your pieces. Absolutely fantastic!
